About Apostate Alex
Previously the Church of Scientology's Director of Public Book Sales in London, Apostate Alex had signed his billion-year contract and was ready to dedicate his life to Scientology. However, before he could arrive at the notorious 'Sea Organization' headquarters in Clearwater, Florida, he was ultimately expelled and labelled a 'Source of Trouble'. He now uses Youtube to share stories from his time on staff and giving others a platform to do the same.
You can’t leave the room until you’ve written down everything you’ve done wrong. “Have you ever masturbated?"
“Write down every instance you’ve done this in as much detail as you can: when, where, how many times. Did you watch porn? What type? How long for?"
Those were the last few moments for Alexander Barnes-Ross in Scientology, and the last time he’d set foot in a Church as a Scientologist in ‘good standing’.
At the age of 19, Alex was declared a ‘Potential Trouble Source’ and dismissed from his post as Director of Public Book sales at the Church of Scientology in London. Escorted to his desk, and then the door, he was heartbroken: everything he believed in and everybody he'd spent countless hours with, day in, day out, over the preceding months - gone. Alex was as dedicated as they come: ready to ‘Clear the planet’ and spend his life making the world a better place.
He now runs a Youtube channel under the name ‘Apostate Alex’ where he interviews other former Scientology members; and works tirelessly to raise public awareness of the dangers presented by their continued operations.
In November 2023, Alex organised the UK's largest protest in 15 years which aimed to raise awareness of Scientology's abusive practices and offer assistance to those looking to leave. Shortly afterwards, he engaged former Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott to request HMRC conduct a full investigation into Scientology’s financial operations and is now campaigning against the group’s ongoing efforts to infiltrate British government.
Alex is also the Editor of ScientologyBusiness.com, an online publication that provides analysis and commentary on Scientology’s financial, legal and corporate affairs in the UK and Europe.
